


BIOGRAPHY
After graduating from the University of Cambridge, in 1989 Mark Andrewes formed an independent songwriting and music production company, Biondi Music. The company has operated continuously up to the present day.

In 1992, Mark joined 'Exposure' as lead vocalist and songwriter. The band's first single, 'Take Back That Goodbye' was featured in a TV competition on BBC programme Dance Energy in 1993. Exposure continued touring for a further year.
​
After leaving Exposure Mark decided to focus on songwriting, working with numerous bands and vocalists. In 1995, 'Take My Place' by Rhythm ID gained radio 1 airplay as a featured track on the Steve Wright breakfast show.

In 1999, 'All Time High' by Energia featuring Ann McCabe reached the final eight of the BBC's selection process for the UK's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. The track received national airplay and reached number 4 in specialist club charts. A number of further Energia singles followed.
'Don't Let Life Get You Down' was recorded by Joseph McLean in 2001 and a live performance of the track featured in ITV's Popstars series. The song was also performed extensively around the UK.

In 2003, 'Energia (I'm Alive)' by Energia featuring vocals by Surreal reached number 8 in the Music Week UK club charts, and received considerable radio airplay.

The music video for 'Get The Freak Out' by Energia featuring Irina was selected to represent the UK in 2006 at the European Music Video Festival 'Euro Video Grand Prix' in Tirana, Albania. The show was televised in over 20 countries across Europe.
In 2007, Mark returned to vocal duties for 'This Game' by Energia. The track reached number 9 in the Music Week UK club charts.

In collaboration with Quite Nice Theatre, in 2009 Mark began writing music and lyrics for musical theatre. The first show 'This Was Your Life' toured the UK in 2012 and 2013. Songs from the show won the Best Original Song award at the Stratford-upon-Avon Fringe Festival for two years running.
In 2013 Mark co-wrote music and lyrics for another show, 'Snakes! The Musical' This hugely popular comedy received numerous five star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and finished the fifth best rated show in the entire festival, out of over 2,000 shows. It was nominated for the prestigious Musical Theatre Network awards, and was praised as a 'cult hit' by musical theatre legend Elaine Paige. This show also revived the 1999 Eurovision song ‘All Time High’.
'Snakes!' returned to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014, as well as making its international debut in Barcelona. In September 2014 it also made its debut in London's west-end at the Leicester Square Theatre. In the same year Mark contributed music and lyrics for a further Quite Nice Theatre production, 'At The Edge of World', which received five star reviews at the Reading Fringe Festival.
In 2016, Mark wrote the book, music and lyrics for a further show, 'It Takes Talent‘.
'Immortality’ is Mark’s latest musical, for which he has written the book as well as music and lyrics. The show was performed at the Drayton Arms theatre in central London in 2019. An EP from the show, 'Misjudged', was released by Energia featuring Robert Sharpe.
The latest album by Energia, 'Energised', has already received over a million streams.

In January 2025, Mark's song 'Sad Rags' qualified for the semi-finals of the San Marino Song Contest, the national selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest. The song has been released featuring lead vocalist Jake Hayes, with additional vocals by Iain Terry, James Raynard, Sam Quinlan and Sebastiaan Douma.
